Tony Braxton

Tony Braxton was born on October 8th, 1968, Severn, Maryland, USA. Tony, with her four sisters, was signed to Arista Records in 1990 as the Braxtons. It was their 'The Good Life' single that brought them to the attention of producers L.A. And Babyface, who provided her with solo successes such as 'Another Sad Love Song' and 'You Mean The World To Me'. Though she has been widely described as the 'new Whitney Houston' (a fate that befalls many female vocalists), her vocal talent has found an audience in garage and house circles, causing her debut album to sell more than two million copies, and she won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1993. Secrets repeated the success of her debut, particularly in her homeland (eight million sales) where she threatens to make Whitney Houston appear to be 'the old Toni Braxton'. Her biggest hit to date came with 'Unbreak My Heart', which seemed to be a permanent fixture on the charts in 1996, reaching number 2 in the UK. She won Female Rhythm & Blues Artist Of The Year at the 1997 Billboard Music Awards. Braxton filed for bankruptcy in January 1998 following litigation with her record company. After overcoming intense adversity, Toni Braxton landed on her feet and prepared to take her vows at the alter. She announced her plans to marry Keri Lewis of the group Mint Condition .Toni Braxton took home two American Music Awards on January 8, 2001. She garnered the favorite soul R&B album honor for The Heat , which has sold more than 2 million copies, and favorite female soul/ R&B artist.
