don't really believe anymore that my heart can show me the way. Each time it is close to feeling ok, somebody or something or itself steals it away.

All I hope to do is capture some moments here and there.

Luckily enough, there have been plenty of them.

Like the eight months I spent in California in my girlfriend's apartment finding out what would make me click, writing and recording new songs in one corner of the living room. Everything felt new and fresh and the ideas spilled out.

I had left my old life in Switzerland behind me. I had been working with my band CRANK for more than twelve years, recording, touring and quite happily turning everyone on. But my heart and my love told me to walk away, to look even deeper for that idea of a sound I first heard on my mother's turntable when I could barely walk and my parents were still in love: The Beatles and Louis Armstrong.

Me three years old sitting on the couch holding a book the wrong way up pretending to read while losing myself

in the music. That is probably the greatest feeling I ever had (with my pants on). I loved those records to death. And I'm trying to get that feeling back. I got my first guitar and taperecorder a year later and got in touch with more music, people, bliss and heartache. They all left their traces and continue to change my idea of what that sound was like. I think I really got damn close to it this time in my sweetheart's apartment… Damn close to her too… Then love went wrong: a broken heart and two red suitcases full of clothes, drawings and a harddisk full of songs. I returned to Switzerland and starting working on my album in Bern with Gert Stäuble as producer. So many new people, sights and sounds made their way into my life. The record was released in March and I started touring shortly after. So much for capturing moments. Can't wait for the next ones. And here goes my heart again, thanks for showing me the way.
